What is semaglutide?

Semaglutide is a Glucagon-like Peptide-1 (GLP-1) produced by the gut. It increases insulin production, a hormone that lowers blood sugar levels. And inhibits glucagon secretion, a hormone that raises blood sugar levels. It reduces appetite and energy intake while delaying gastric emptying. Therefore, you will want to eat less while still feeling full for longer. Semaglutide has been shown to help with weight loss and decreasing body fat percentage.

Yes, you will need to fast for a minimum of 8 hours prior to coming in for your blood work.
